Atlantic Records has announced the upcoming release of “OMFGG – ORIGINAL MUSIC FEATURED ON GOSSIP GIRL NO. 1,” the first companion soundtrack to the hit CW series, Gossip Girl. The album features an array of tracks from a range of today’s most intriguing new artists, including the Virgins, the Republic Tigers, Phantom Planet, the Kills, and the Ting Tings. “OMFGG – ORIGINAL MUSIC FEATURED ON GOSSIP GIRL NO. 1” arrives digitally today, September 2nd – one day after the hugely anticipated Season 2 premiere of Gossip Girl. T.I. establishes the mark for biggest jump to the top of the Billboard Hot 100, as 'Whatever You Like' soars 71-1 in its third week on the list. A No. 1 opening on Hot Digital Songs with debut-week sales of 205,000 downloads is the impetus for the record-setting Hot 100 move. The track is the Tip's first No. 1 as a lead artist and his opening-week digital sum is the best by a rap track since Nielsen SoundScan began compiling download data in 2003. The song is also currently enjoying success at radio, jumping 33-20 on Hot 100 Airplay and 13-8 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay.

'My nearest frame of reference for a political convention like the DNCC is SXSW, the annual indie rock melee in Austin, Texas. We’ve been there as a band a handful of times, and I’ve been twice on my own. It’s a train wreck of logistics: Hundreds of bands (many self-managed and very literally independent) trying desperately to find their credentials, their gigs, their accommodations (often the floors of friends) and perhaps most importantly their free beer. There’s definitely free beer to be found, but it’s something of a treasure hunt in Austin.'

You can buy these wristbands online after the performances as well. All shows that have been recorded so far are now up for preorder. Orders will start shipping around Aug 22.

Future shows (post Aug 22) will be added to the store the day after the performance. Orders will ship within 3-5 days of the performance.

Earlier this week Bloc Party surprised music fans around the globe by announcing the arrival of their third album, Intimacy, just three days before its release. Lead singer Kele joined RollingStone.com on the phone to explain how and why the band decided to spring their new album so unexpectedly.

“There were lot of clandestine meetings in east London pubs,” laughs frontman Kele Okereke on the phone from England. “We referred to it as Plan ‘X.’ It was a bit of a giggle. I don’t think more than 10 people knew about the idea until the last few days. It was totally hush-hush."

Camera Can’t Lie is a band of five excited and exciting young men from the small town of Owatonna, MN. The band finalized their lineup last spring with the mentality: “We come from the Midwest. The boys circled the Midwest building a buzz and a fan base until Atlantic discovered and signed them in the span of two short months in the spring of 2008.

Atlantic Records is thrilled about Camera Can’t Lie’s impending debut. Their music is a mix of Switchfoot and Third Eye Blind, Goo Goo Dolls with Dashboard Confessional, and Coldplay flavored with All-American Rejects. This is a great band to watch, and a record to look forward to in 2009.
